IISLA Forum goes hybrid!
We are excited to meet you all online via our host online access but meet face-to-face with other participants, to share with you our new initiatives to help Filipino entrepreneurs and small enterprises, including MSMEs, in accessing the right capital.
Since the last IISLA Forum in February 2020, we have redesigned our programmes and built a digital platform to address systemic challenges faced by entrepreneurs, particularly in the food sector (or agripreneurs), in effectively growing their businesses and impact in rural communities.
The long value chains that underpin current food systems disconnect farmers with consumers. This has often resulted in a mismatch between the supply and the demand of agricultural products, leading to food wastage. Moreover, farmers continue to be beholden to some exploitative middlemen, or viajeros, who serve as their primary link to the market.
Prior to the COVID19 pandemic, IISLA had designed a platform to address the growing threat of food insecurity. This problem was exacerbated during the global lockdown and paved the way for the rise of several agri-tech platforms that offered potential solutions . However, challenges remain evident in relation to efficient logistics and delivery systems, crop availability, price stability, and technology inclusion among rural communities.
IISLA’s new platform aims to address these challenges with an education programme for agripreneurs to build and grow impact-driven enterprises anchored in social/economic justice and environmental sustainability. Our platform also connects smallholder farmers, food businesses and logistics providers so they can efficiently trade and move naturally-grown, fresh produce from local farms to kitchens.
Come and join us to discover our new platform and explore opportunities for partnerships. We invite you to collaborate with us in transforming our food systems for the benefit of all Filipinos.
Together we can feed our people with healthy, nutritious food and do so without destroying our planet.
