IISLA develops the knowledge, relationships, and participation mechanisms needed for long-term place-based regeneration.

Our publications reflect IISLA’s evolution from early enterprise experimentation into a broader institutional framework for place-based regeneration. What began with FarmYields has grown into a clearer body of learning about how communities, institutions, and capital can participate together over time.

Founded in the United Kingdom and working internationally, IISLA helps create the conditions through which communities become more resilient, enabling shared prosperity for current and future generations. IISLA is a mission-led institution that works with organisations across sectors, especially funders.

THE PEOPLE STEWARDING IISLA

IISLA is stewarded by people with different experiences but a shared commitment to long-term stewardship of places. Together, they bring expertise in enterprise, governance, finance, technology, and community development to an evolving body of work grounded in practice.

Jennifer Viloria is the founder of IISLA Ventures and the architect behind its capital and governance design approach to regenerative rural economies.

Born in a rural farming community in the Philippines and later working internationally across finance, strategic advisory, and venture development, Jennifer brings lived experience and systems-level thinking to the design of community-owned enterprises.

Mel Yan is a social-ecological transformation practitioner, researcher, governance advisor, and long-standing partner in the development of IISLA Ventures’ place-based work in the Philippines.

With deep experience in community enterprise development, systems change facilitation, and leadership practice, Mel plays a central role in translating architectural design into grounded implementation.

Her work underpins the economic discipline required for regenerative ventures to mature responsibly. She designs and stress-tests financial models, validates cost structures, and ensures that operational data reflects real market conditions rather than projected assumptions.
